This article outlines the top 10 Best Girls High Schools in Jamaica 2022. These top 10 schools scored 90% and above in their Caribbean School Examination Certificate (CSEC).
Topmost10 looked at each school and calculated the percentage of students, at the end of grade 11, achieving a minimum of 5 CSEC subjects (including Mathematics and/or English) and based on the percentage obtained they are ranked.
The percentage of students is calculated based on the cohort and not sittings. Schools reflected in our ranking have 50% or more of their CSEC cohort passing with 5 or more subjects Mathematics and/or English.

10. Bishop Gibson for Girls

Percival William Gibson and Mr. John Lord of Mandeville.
Her Royal Highness, the Princess Alice of Athlone, opened the school on February 13th, 1962 as an independent school to provide Christian education for girls. The old Newleigh Hotel (the Main Building, pictured above) was converted to facilitate the needs of 16 boarders, 19 day girls and four members of staff, including Acting Headmistress, Mrs. Sommerville.
In three short years, an Assembly Hall (Pickering Hall), a block of five modern classrooms and laboratory, were added.
9. Convent of Mercy Academy Alpha
Established originally as a small, private high school in response to the need for educational and spiritual development of young women in Jamaica, the School has made significant strides in curriculum development, in co-curricular activities and service clubs, in Sports, Elocution and Drama, and in Fine Arts.
Although the enrollment today numbers upwards of 1300 students, all the young women at the Academy are comfortably accommodated. The eight position was taken by the Alphas.

St. Hilda Girls took the eighth spot of this year’s best Girls high schools in Jamaica. The school is one of the best in Jamaica when it comes to academics performance.
