Robert Mugabe is the most notorious of African strongmen. The 93 year old has ruled over Zimbabwe for about 30 years, during which Zimbabweans have carried their money in wheelbarrows when they go shopping. He has forcefully taken farms from white citizens of Zimbabwe (because it didn’t belong to them), has criticized Western leaders, hunted down his political opponents and it appeared that he was entertaining the idea of letting his wife take over the country.
